Jonathan snuggling and kissing Eddie the tabby kitten during his FIP treatment recovery

Eddie Is Thriving — FIP Treatment Update and the Sweetest Boy You Ever Saw

If you have been following along with our sourdough journey, our Monday menus, and all the chaos of life with five kids — then you know about Eddie. Our sweet tabby kitten was diagnosed with FIP earlier this year, and it has been quite a journey. But y’all. He is doing SO well. He still has six more weeks of treatment to go, but you would never know it looking at him. He is cuddly, he is happy, he is sleeping in Converse shoe boxes like he owns the place, and he has wrapped himself completely around every single heart in this house. Eddie is thriving — and we could not be more grateful.

Eddie came into our lives as a tiny tabby kitten alongside his brother Dustin, and almost immediately we found out he had Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) — a serious illness that requires months of treatment. It was scary. But we jumped in with both feet because that is what you do for your people, and Eddie is absolutely one of our people.

Six weeks into treatment, this boy is a completely different cat. He is snuggly and sweet and just full of life. In this video you will see him:

🐱 Curled up sleeping in one of our Converse shoe boxes (because of course)
🐱 Snuggling with Jonathan — who loves that cat with his whole entire heart
🐱 Cuddling with Hannah — because Eddie does not play favorites, he just loves everyone
🐱 Looking absolutely precious with his eyes closed, completely at peace

Jonathan and Eddie have a special bond that just melts me every single time. Jon holds him so gently and Eddie just melts right into him. It is one of those things that makes all the hard stuff completely worth it.

Eddie still has six weeks of treatment to go, but we are taking it one day at a time and celebrating every single snuggle. If you want to follow along with Eddie’s journey, make sure you are subscribed — and check out the earlier update when we first shared that Eddie’s FIP treatment was working. We are so thankful for every one of you who has cheered him on. This community is the best.

Dustin is also doing great, for the record. He is currently supervising from a nearby basket and has opinions about everything. 🧺
