POV you're a cat — Dustin and Eddie the tabby kittens curled up in baskets around the Longstreth home

POV: You’re a Cat, I’m a Basket, We Get Each Other

POV: You’re a cat, I’m a basket, we get each other. If that sentence makes complete sense to you, then you clearly also share your home with cats. 🐱 Dustin and Eddie arrived in the Longstreth house as tiny tabby kittens and wasted absolutely no time establishing the rules. Rule number one: every basket in the house belongs to them. Every single one. It doesn’t matter where it is, what it looks like, or what was already in it — if it is basket-shaped, it is cat property now. And that’s just how things work around here.

It started innocently enough. A small basket on the coffee table. A laundry basket left unattended for thirty seconds. A decorative basket that was purely for aesthetics and absolutely not for cats. And yet. Here we are.

Dustin — our self-appointed neighborhood watch officer and senior basket inspector — was the first to discover that baskets are, in fact, the superior napping location. Eddie, his brother and fellow basket enthusiast, was quick to agree. Now there is not a single basket in this house that has not been thoroughly evaluated, sat in, kneaded, and officially claimed.

The Basket Situation in the Longstreth House

We are not exaggerating when we say these two have claimed every basket. Open baskets, closed baskets, decorative baskets, laundry baskets — it does not matter. If it has sides and fits a cat, it belongs to Dustin or Eddie. Sometimes both, which leads to some very interesting negotiations between the two of them.

And it is not just baskets. Any bag left on the floor? Cat. Any empty box? Cat. Any open wrapper, tote bag, or container of any kind? You already know the answer.

Life With Dustin and Eddie

These two tabby brothers have brought so much joy and so much chaos to our home in equal measure, and we would not have it any other way. They are funny, they are sweet, and they have absolutely no concept of personal space or property rights. Which, honestly, is exactly what this family needed. 🧺🐾

If you have cats, you already know. And if you don’t have cats, consider this your warning: the baskets will never be yours again. Want to see what else our cats are up to? Check out their latest adventures on the Dustin Has Two Modes post.
