How I Styled a Couples Bridal Shower on a Budget
The very first thing I do when planning any shower is ask one question: what are the bride’s colors? Everything else flows from there. For this couples bridal shower on a budget, the answer was shades of green — and that single detail guided every decoration decision I made.
A few summers ago I invested in a set of beautiful muslin table runners, and they have paid for themselves many times over. They are 10 feet long, rustic and gorgeous, and I will use them at every wedding season event for years to come. For the cake table centerpiece, I layered a 12x12 Vintage Green Scrapbook Paper Set as a base, then placed a Mimorou Lace Doilies Set of 18 on top for a delicate, layered look. On the main cake table I also draped a set of Sggvecsy Artificial Eucalyptus Garlands 3-Pack — these faux greenery garlands are beautiful and completely reusable.
For the individual table centerpieces I picked up small potted plants from Walmart — one was under $6 and another was under $15. Each pot already came in a cute finished container so there was nothing extra to buy. These doubled as take-home gifts for guests, which is something I always try to do. It makes the table beautiful AND gives everyone something to take home and remember the day.
For the invitations, I love including a small Bible verse about love at the top — it sets the tone beautifully. I used Great Papers! Lush Greenery Letterhead which comes in 80 sheets and is absolutely stunning — the botanical watercolor design fit the green theme perfectly.
The food was entirely potluck — everyone brought a dish, and I brought my normal crowd-pleasing potluck food. Taking the food off my plate (pun intended) is one of the best things about hosting this way, and it means the whole community gets to be part of celebrating the couple.
