We have a rule in the Longstreth house: anything left unattended belongs to Dustin. Our tabby cat claims basket, seat, and sideboard with equal enthusiasm — and he has never once apologized for it. POV: Your Basket is Now My Basket is not a exaggeration. This is just Tuesday in this house.
Stephanie found this basket at Goodwill and brought it home thinking it would look lovely on the sideboard in the dining room. It lasted approximately five minutes before Dustin claimed it as his own. Every tabby cat claims basket space as their own — but Dustin takes it to a whole new level. It now lives on the sideboard as Dustin’s personal napping headquarters. Eddie has been known to steal it when Dustin isn’t looking — and the two of them have been spotted arguing over it more than once.
Dustin and Eddie are our two tabby cat brothers and they have absolutely taken over this household. They show up in the kitchen when Stephanie is cooking, they steal our seats the moment we stand up, they love jumping up on the sideboard, they claim every basket, box, and blanket as their own, and they have stolen all of our hearts completely.
