Kitchen Favorites: DII It’s Fall Y’all Apron

My newest fall apron got here before fall did, y’all, and I could not wait one more minute to put it on. It says It’s Fall Y’all right across the front, it has a blue plaid skirt with the sweetest little leaves scattered on the pockets, and it is my kitchen favorite this week. Here is the thing you probably already know about me if you have watched more than one video: I have an apron on in almost every single one. That is not a costume. I am a hot mess in the kitchen. I spill, I splatter, I drop things, I wipe my hands on whatever is closest. An apron is the only thing standing between my actual clothes and whatever is going on at the stove, so I own several and I wear them out.

That is the part I love most. The top is cream with It’s Fall Y’all lettered across it in orange and brown, and then the whole bottom half is a blue and orange plaid skirt with a floral trim running along the top of it. Blue plaid is not what most people reach for when they think fall apron, and that is exactly why it caught my eye. It goes with everything I already have on and it does not look like every other pumpkin-print apron in the aisle.

The pockets have the little leaves on them, and they are real pockets — two big ones across the front, not the decorative kind that will barely hold a folded paper towel. A spoon fits. A towel fits. My phone fits, which matters when I am the one filming. My only complaint is entirely my own fault: I put things in them and then completely forget they are in there until I go to hang the apron up.

And this is the one nobody puts in the product description, so I will. There is plenty of ribbon back here. If you are a curvy girl like me, you already know the disappointment of ordering an apron and finding out the ties barely meet in the back, so you end up with a sad little knot instead of a bow. Not this one. The straps wrap around with room to spare and tie properly, and the neck goes over your head without choking you. That is not a small thing — it is the difference between an apron you wear and an apron that lives in a drawer.

Why This Fall Apron Made My Kitchen Favorites

Everything that ends up in my kitchen favorites earns it the same way: I keep reaching for it. A fall apron is a seasonal thing, so this one gets a few months instead of a whole year, but from now until the turkey is carved it is the one coming off the hook. It is 100% cotton, it goes in the washing machine on cold and comes out fine, and since I am going to get something on it by Tuesday, that matters more than almost anything else. Most of what lands on it between now and Thanksgiving is going to be orange, because pumpkin is a hill I will die on and this apron is going to be present for every loaf of it. If you do manage to set something into the fabric, the American Cleaning Institute has a plain stain removal guide that has saved more than one thing in my laundry room.

There is the striped one with the big pockets , which was my newest until this fall apron showed up and knocked it out of first place. Then there are the two floral ones Jason gave me for Christmas — the same apron in two colorways, one with red ribbons  and one with green . The red one is probably my all-time favorite, and I do not think anybody who has been here long is surprised that the red one won.

Will this fall apron fit a curvy girl?

It fits me and I am a curvy girl, so yes. It is one size, the neck strap goes over your head with no adjusting, and the waist ties are long enough to wrap around and tie in a real bow in the back rather than a knot. That is the part I checked first and the part I was most relieved about.

Does it have real pockets?

Two large ones across the front, trimmed with the little fall leaves. They hold a spoon, a towel, or a phone without any trouble. Just be prepared to find things in them three days later, because I sure do.

Can you wash it?

Yes, and you will need to. It is 100% cotton — cold water on a gentle cycle and tumble dry low, no bleach and no high heat. Mine has been through the wash and the print and the plaid both came out looking exactly the same.

Would this work as a gift?

It is honestly one of the easiest gifts I can think of for anybody who cooks, and it lands perfectly anywhere from the first cool morning through Thanksgiving. One size means you do not have to guess, and an apron is a gift somebody uses instead of stores.
