Kitchen Favorites: Depuley Flush Mount Ceiling Fan with Light

This flush mount ceiling fan is my kitchen favorite this week, and I am going to be honest with you right up front — it is not a kitchen thing at all. We finished a room addition off the back of the house this summer. What used to be the patio is now a real room, and it is going to belong to the teenagers. These went up in it, and they have turned out to be one of the best purchases we made for the whole project.

My link to these fans is part of a paid Amazon commission campaign with Depuley, which means Depuley pays me a commission if you buy through it. Depuley did not send us these fans, did not discount them, and did not ask for this post — we bought them ourselves at full price. If you purchase through my links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting StephanieCooksForACrowd.com!

Ours is the 19-inch in white. It also comes in black, gold, blue and pink, and in 16- and 20-inch sizes.

Here is what you need to know about the room first, because it explains everything about why we chose these. It was a patio. It had a roof and a slab and Florida air, and Florida air in August is not something you reason with. Turning it into a real room meant it had to actually stay comfortable, or the teenagers would use it exactly twice and then go back to fighting over the living room.

The ceilings in there are not high. That was the whole problem with a regular fan — a standard fan hangs down on a rod, and in a room like that you are either ducking or you are looking at it the entire time. A flush mount ceiling fan solves that by sitting almost flat against the ceiling, and this one has no exposed blades at all. It is a closed disc with a light ring around it. Nothing sticks down into the room.

Why a Flush Mount Ceiling Fan Was the Right Call for This Room

The remote is the part I would tell a friend about. It does six fan speeds, and it dims the light from barely-on all the way up to bright, and it changes the color of the light from a warm yellow to a cool daylight white. That last one matters more than it sounds like it would. Warm light in the evening makes that room feel like somewhere you would actually sit; daylight white makes it a place you can do homework. Same fixture, and you never get up off the couch.

There is a color mode too, and I will admit that one is entirely for the teenagers. It was not a selling point for me and it was absolutely a selling point for them, which is the point of the room. It is their space. If purple light is what makes it feel like theirs, then purple light it is.

If you are shopping for one of these yourself, ENERGY STAR’s guide to ceiling fans is worth a couple of minutes — they point out that a certified fan can be up to 44% more efficient than a conventional one, and that most of the difference comes down to the motor. This one runs on a DC motor, which is the quiet kind, and quiet is the whole reason it works in a room where somebody is always trying to watch something.

What I can tell you after a full Florida summer is that the room stays cool and comfortable, and I do not hear the fan running. That is the entire review. It was not expensive, it went up flat against a low ceiling, it moves enough air to make a converted patio livable in August, and the kids think the lights are the best thing in the house.

Flush Mount Ceiling Fan FAQ

Is Stephanie paid by Depuley?

Not for the review, and I want to be precise about this. Depuley never contacted us, never sent us anything, and never asked for a video — we bought these on Amazon at full price with our own money, and I would be telling you about them either way. What is true is that after the fact I joined an Amazon commission campaign for this product, so Depuley does pay me a commission when somebody buys through my link. That is why it is spelled out at the top of this post instead of buried. Nobody bought my opinion; they are only paying for the link.

Is a flush mount ceiling fan strong enough to actually cool a room?

For a bedroom-sized room, yes — ours keeps a converted patio comfortable through a Florida August, and that is a hard test. I would not ask a 19-inch fan to handle a great room or anything with a vaulted ceiling. Match the size to the space, and if the room is long, two smaller ones will beat one big one.

How loud is it?

Quiet enough that I forget it is on. That is not me being generous — it runs on a DC motor, which is the quiet kind, and there are no blades cutting open air. On the lower speeds I genuinely cannot hear it over a television.

Do you need the app, or is the remote enough?

The remote does everything and it is what we actually use. There is a phone app if you want it, and it remembers your last settings either way. If you are the kind of person who would rather not add one more app to your phone, you are not missing anything.

What size did you get, and what colors does it come in?

Ours is the 19-inch in white, which is what you are seeing in the video. It also comes in black, gold, blue and pink at that size, plus 16-inch and 20-inch versions. Check the size and the color on the listing before you order, because they are all on the same page and it is easy to click past the one you meant.
