Kitchen Favorites: Bambusi Bamboo Cutting Boards

My kitchen favorites series is all about the things I reach for every single day, and this week it is my bamboo cutting boards. I am not paid by Bambusi, y’all — these are just the boards I love so much that I leave them sitting right out on the counter like kitchen decoration. A good cutting board is the tool my hands touch most when I cook, and these have more than earned their permanent spot.

• These are the bamboo boards that live right out on my counter — they're that pretty. Easy to clean, gentle on my knives, and the set means I've always got the right size for whatever I'm chopping. The set I link is the closest match to mine: same company, same beautiful bamboo. Honestly, they're part of why I find chopping so relaxing.

I will let you in on something a little ridiculous: I genuinely find chopping relaxing. The routine of it — chopping, slicing, dicing — is what draws me into the kitchen, and there is something soothing about doing the same simple motions I have done a thousand times. A good bamboo cutting board is a big part of that. When the board feels solid under my knife and looks beautiful on the counter, the whole job feels less like a chore and more like the start of something good.

What I love about these Bambusi boards is that they check every box without trying too hard. They are easy to clean, they are gentle on my knives — bamboo has a little give that keeps an edge sharper than a hard plastic or glass board ever will — and they are just plain pretty. The set comes in more than one size, so there is always a board that fits what I am doing, whether it is a quick lemon or a full trinity of peppers, onion, and celery for a pot of Uncle Lou’s jambalaya. The big board is also where I set my box grater when I am shredding a block of cheese, because it catches everything that misses the little container.

One honest note: my exact set is not the only one Bambusi makes, so I have linked the closest match I could find — same company, same beautiful bamboo, and a large board very similar to the one I reach for most. And no, nobody is paying me to say any of this. I bought my boards myself and they earned their place by being the ones I actually use. If you want to keep a bamboo board in good shape for years, Consumer Reports has a solid guide to cleaning and caring for cutting boards that is worth a read.

Why a Good Bamboo Cutting Board Is One of My Kitchen Favorites

A lot of cutting boards are an afterthought — a thin plastic thing shoved in a drawer. But the board you use is the tool your hands are on the most, and a bamboo cutting board that is sturdy, kind to your knives, and pretty enough to leave out genuinely changes how it feels to cook. Mine live on the counter, ready to go, and I think that is a small part of why I never dread prep. When the tools are good and the routine is familiar, chopping stops being a chore and becomes the calm part of my day.

Bamboo Cutting Board Kitchen Favorites FAQ

Are bamboo cutting boards good for your knives?

Yes — that is one of my favorite things about them. Bamboo has just enough give that it is gentler on your knife edges than glass or hard plastic, so your blades stay sharper longer. It is hard enough to be durable but forgiving enough to protect what you are cutting on.

How do you clean a bamboo cutting board?

I hand wash mine with warm, soapy water and dry them right away — never the dishwasher, because soaking and high heat can warp or crack the wood. Every so often I rub in a little food-safe mineral oil to keep the bamboo from drying out. Treated kindly, a good board lasts for years.

Can you leave bamboo cutting boards out on the counter?

I do, all the time — that is half the reason I love them. They are pretty enough to be kitchen decoration, and keeping them out means they are always within reach when I get the urge to start chopping. Just make sure they are fully dry before you stand them up so the air can circulate.

Is bamboo better than wood or plastic for a cutting board?

Bamboo gives you a lot of what people love about wood — gentle on knives, naturally good-looking — while being a little harder and more moisture-resistant. I keep a plastic board around for raw meat because it is easy to sanitize, but for everyday chopping, my bamboo boards are what I reach for first.

Is Stephanie paid by Bambusi?

No — not at all. I bought my boards with my own money and they made it into my kitchen favorites because I genuinely use and love them. I use Amazon affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you buy through my link at no extra cost to you — but the recommendation is entirely mine.
