Raising Cane's review — plate of chicken fingers and fries from our family of 7 first visit

Raising Cane’s Review — Our Family of 7 Tried It for the First Time

Raising Cane’s review from a family of 7 — and yes, most of us were true first-timers! Our college girls had apparently already discovered Raising Cane’s on their own (as college kids do), but for the rest of us this was a brand new experience. We were out for spring break, all seven of us together, and we decided it was finally time to find out what all the hype was about. Spoiler: the hype is mostly justified. We had a great lunch, we have some opinions, and Jason and I are prepared to give you our completely unscientific but very enthusiastic family rating.

First things first — if you have never been to Raising Cane’s, the concept is simple. They do chicken fingers. That’s basically it. There is not a huge menu to navigate, which honestly is kind of refreshing when you walk in with seven people and everyone is hungry and no one can agree on anything. You’re getting chicken. Done.

And the chicken? Really, really good. We all agreed on that. The sauce is also a big winner in this family — we loved it, and I will not be sharing how many times we went back for more. The kids were very into the whole experience and it felt like a solid lunch choice for a crowd.

Here is where we have to be honest though: the dining room was fairly small. We were not prepared for that, and as a large family, tight dining rooms are always a little bit of a challenge. We made it work, but if you are heading in with a big group, just know that you may need to be strategic about timing or seating.

Our other honest take: the fries and garlic bread are good, but we think Zaxby’s does both of those things a little better. We also wished there was a bit more sauce variety — when you love the sauce as much as we did, you start wondering what else they could do with it.

Overall verdict from the Longstreth family? 8.5 out of 10. We would absolutely go back. It was a great addition to our spring break adventures this year, and if you have a Raising Cane’s near you and you have not tried it yet — go. Get the chicken. Get the sauce. You can thank us later. 🍗
