Poppy Seed Chicken Q&A — Your Questions Answered!
Y’all. The Poppy Seed Chicken has taken on a life of its own and I am so grateful — truly. When a recipe blows up like that, the questions start rolling in, and I love it. It means people are actually making it! So I hopped back on to answer the two most frequently asked questions I’ve been getting, because apparently I forgot one very important detail in the original video. 😄 (Oops. I’m a dork. It’s fine.)
Question #1: Bake time and temperature
This was the number one question by a mile — and rightfully so, because I completely forgot to mention it in the original video! I am so sorry about that. Here it is: 375°F for 45 minutes. That’s it. Write it down. Stick it on your fridge. You’re welcome. 😄
Question #2: Seasoning
The second most asked question was about seasoning the chicken. Here’s how I do it: when I bake the chicken beforehand, I season it with salt, pepper, garlic, and olive oil. So by the time it goes into the casserole, it already has flavor built in. That said, Poppy Seed Chicken is really more of a creamy, cheesy, warm comfort food dish than a boldly seasoned one — my kids love it exactly for that reason. But you can absolutely add more seasoning if that’s your style. Make it yours! That’s the best part about recipes like this — there’s no wrong answer as long as your family loves it.
Did you know that poppy seeds have been used in cooking for thousands of years? They add the most subtle nutty flavor that makes people ask “what IS that?” without being able to place it — which is exactly why this casserole is so addictive.
