Thrifting in St. Petersburg — Spring Break with Hannah and Jon
Thrifting in St. Petersburg was exactly the kind of spring break adventure this family needed! Me and my two favorite sidekicks — Hannah and Jon — hit some thrift stores we had never discovered before, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. There is nothing quite like the thrill of the find. That one unique treasure you could never track down in a box store, at a price that makes you feel like you won something. Our family loves thrifting, and today was a really, really good day.
Hannah is always on the hunt for clothing with a unique style and a real statement — the kind of pieces you are just not going to find anywhere else. Jon had his eye out for the coolest water bottles and a great t-shirt, because that is very much his brand. And me? I was searching for old recipe books, unique salt and pepper shakers, kitchen decorations, baskets (which, let’s be honest, will immediately become Dustin and Eddie’s), and the perfect sized coffee mug. We all had our missions and we took them seriously.
St. Petersburg has some really fun thrift stores that we honestly had not explored yet, and it felt like a little adventure just finding them. I picked up some recipe books from around the year 2000 that gave me so much inspiration — there is something about a well-loved old cookbook that just makes you want to get in the kitchen. I cannot wait to dig into those.
After a good long morning of treasure hunting, we stopped for lunch at E & L Pizza in St. Petersburg and it was so yummy. Pizza was the perfect reward for all that thrifting energy, and that grape Crush on the tray? Absolutely necessary. We went home happy, tired, and carrying our treasures — and honestly, that is the best possible way to end a spring break day.
