Kitchen Favorites: Large Serving Platters
These large serving platters are my kitchen favorite this week, and they are the first new serving ware I have bought in about ten years. Nobody pays me to say that — LE TAUCI has never contacted me, this is not sponsored, and I bought this set with my own money right off Amazon like anybody else. Everything I had was getting chipped and dinged, and with hosting season here and all the parties and holidays and gatherings on the way, I wanted a few good basic pieces again. This is the exact set you see me holding in the video.

• This is the exact set in the video, the Birch color with the little design around the edge. The big one will hold a small turkey or a ham, the smaller one sits right beside it, and they are heavy and speckled and neutral enough to go rustic or dressy. I did not even know they were oven safe until after I bought them.
Feeding a big group of people does not just take certain cookware. It takes serving ware too. I mean, you can serve right out of the pots and pans, and plenty of nights at my house we do. But on a nicer occasion, you have made this beautiful food, and you want it to look beautiful on the table as well.
I really do still look for pieces when I go thrifting, and I will keep doing that. But while I hunt, I wanted some basics to restock with, so I went looking on Amazon. These came as a set of two for a really good price, they had high ratings, and I was willing to put my money down for them.

Why These Large Serving Platters Work for a Crowd
You get one larger platter and one smaller one. The large one will hold a small turkey or a small ham whole — or a big one, once you have cut it off the bone. They have a deep rim, too, so juices stay on the platter instead of running onto the tablecloth. When I make my Sunday pot roast for company, this is where it goes now, sliced and laid out so everybody can see what they are getting.

They are a really beautiful, heavy-duty speckled ceramic. The color is very neutral, but it is gorgeous, and there is just a pretty, basic little design around the outside. They can be rustic, and they can be dressy — or at least dressy for me. I think they are simple, elegant and beautiful, and they go with whatever else is already on my table.
They are dishwasher safe, microwave safe and oven safe. You could actually bake something right in one of them, which I did not know when I got them. And that oven-safe part turns out to matter more than I thought. The FDA’s guide to serving up safe buffets says to keep hot back-up dishes in an oven at 200 to 250 degrees, and to swap a nearly empty dish for a fresh one instead of piling new food on top. With two oven-safe platters, one can wait in the warm oven while the other one is out on the table.

Which Set Should You Buy?
Mine are the Birch color in the smaller pair, which is an 11.8 inch platter and a 13.5 inch platter. The same Birch set also comes as a bigger pair, a 13.5 inch and a 14.6 inch, and if you are the one carving the turkey every Thanksgiving for a big table, that is the set I would look at. There is also an Arctic White version in the smaller pair, which is a brighter white with a different pressed pattern all over the outside. All three are below so you can see them side by side.
🍽️ Every Size and Color, Side by Side
The Birch set I own (11.8 and 13.5 inch), the bigger Birch pair (13.5 and 14.6 inch), and the Arctic White set (11.8 and 13.7 inch). Click any one to see what it costs today on Amazon.
Large Serving Platters FAQ
Is Stephanie paid for recommending these large serving platters?
No. Nobody has paid me a dime, LE TAUCI has never contacted me, and this was not a gift or a sample. I ordered this set myself and paid for it with my own money. If that ever changes on any product I show you, I will say so right here in this spot, first thing.
Is the set you linked the exact one in the video?
It is. The box at the top of this post is the same Birch set I am holding in the video, the 11.8 inch and 13.5 inch pair. I bought it off Amazon, and that is the listing I bought it from.
How much will these platters hold?
The big one will hold a small turkey or a small ham whole, or a big one once you have carved it. The listing says the large platter holds 63 ounces and the smaller one 41, and because they have a deep rim, they hold a lot more than a flat platter would. They work for sides, salads and pasta just as well as for the meat.
Can they really go in the oven?
They are listed as oven safe, along with dishwasher and microwave safe, so you could even bake something right in one. I did not know that when I bought them, and I have not baked in mine yet. If I do this holiday season, I will come back and tell you how it went.
Couldn’t you find serving platters at the thrift store?
You sure can, and I still look every time I go — my thrift hosting tip is all about finding platters, bowls and baskets for cheap. But while I keep hunting, I wanted a couple of basic pieces I could count on for every gathering, and these were a good price. Both ways are right. It just depends on what you need, and how soon.
