Tuesday Tip: Get Organized — A Free Online Conference, 100+ Classes, and My Meal Planning Session

This Tuesday tip: get organized is one I have been sitting on since April, and I finally get to tell you about it. I was asked to speak at Get Organized HQ Virtual — a free online conference happening September 14–19 — and my session is called Meal Planning Made Easy for Busy Families. But before I send you anywhere, I want to show you the room I am sitting in, because it is nowhere near organized yet.

The kids outgrew their playroom. They have the patio room now, which is where everybody ends up anyway, so that little room sat there doing nothing. I claimed it. I found a desk on Facebook Marketplace, added a cute bookshelf for all my papers, and now I have a spot that is just for meal plans and recipes and all the fun things I get to make for you.

And then I turned the camera around, because you know me. There are bins stacked by the fireplace. There is a helium tank in a box. There is a rolling cart of drawers with cords running everywhere and one shoe on the floor. That is the honest version, and I would rather show you that than a room that looks like nobody lives in it.

Tuesday tip: get organized — start with the room you are standing in

Here is the actual tip, and it is the same one I would give about dinner. Do not try to fix the whole house. Pick the one room you are standing in and give it a job. My office has a job now: it is where the meal planning happens. Everything that does not serve that job is going somewhere else, one box at a time, on whatever Tuesday I get to it.

The reason I care about this is not decorating. It is that a house that runs smoothly is a house where dinner is easier. When I know where the sheet pans are and I know what we are eating Thursday, five o’clock stops being a crisis. Utah State University Extension has a good piece on what clutter does to your stress levels, and it lines up with everything I have felt in my own kitchen. Organizing is not vanity. It is how you stop feeling behind.

Meal planning is organizing. It just happens to be the kind you can eat.

What Get Organized HQ Virtual Actually Is

Get Organized HQ Virtual is a free online conference, and this is their tenth year running it. Over 100,000 women attend. There are more than 100 classes covering decluttering, cleaning, home organization, digital organization, tackling your to-do list, and meal planning — which is where I come in.

Nobody has to get in a car. Nobody has to change out of what they are already wearing. You claim a ticket, you look at the schedule, and you watch the sessions you actually want during the week of September 14. That is the whole thing.

The short version — the ticket is free, the week is September 14–19, and I hope you’ll come get organized with me.

My Session — Meal Planning Made Easy for Busy Families

I was honored to be asked, and a little bit stunned, if I am telling the truth. The lineup has Clean Mama in it. It has Do It On A Dime and A Slob Comes Clean and At Home With Nikki. And then there is me, a mom in Florida who cooks for seven people and posts about it.

What I taught in my session is the thing I have been doing here every week: how to plan a week of dinners without starting from scratch every night, how to build a grocery list that matches the plan, and how to stop treating dinner like a decision you make when everyone is already hungry. If you have followed along with my weekly meal plans, you already know the shape of it. The session is where I explain how it works.

Tuesday tip: get organized FAQ — What You Might Be Wondering

Tuesday tip: get organized — is the conference really free?

Yes. Your ticket costs nothing and my session costs nothing. There is an optional All Access Pass they sell if you want the transcripts, worksheets, and permanent access to everything, but you never have to buy a thing to watch the classes when they go up.

When is Get Organized HQ Virtual 2026?

The free viewing schedule runs September 14 through 19, 2026, and my session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern. Those are the times the classes are free to watch — there are other ways to watch if that window does not work for your week. Claim your ticket and you will see all the options.

Do I have to watch it live?

No, it is pre-recorded — but there is a window. Get Organized HQ keeps each session free to watch for 24 hours after it goes up, and they email you the link when mine is live. So you do not have to be anywhere at a particular minute, you just do not want to save it for next week.

Why is a cooking blog talking about organizing?

Because they are the same skill. A pantry you can see into, a plan on the fridge, and a grocery list that matches it are all organizing — they just end in supper. The conference covers everything from linen closets to inboxes, and meal planning sits right in the middle of it.

What if I am not an organized person at all?

Then you are in excellent company, and you saw my floor. Nobody in that lineup has a perfect house. What they have is a handful of systems that hold up on a bad week, and that is what you walk away with.
